Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of cutting-edge, scalable software in Python, PHP, Java and/or C++.
- Lead modeling and design discussions for new software projects.
- Collaborate with other engineers to develop a long-term technical vision for the software that powers our Clients technology.
- Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, designs and projects managers to estimate and plan projects in an Agile development framework.
- Work in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with peers in all elements of the software development lifecycle.
- Graciously mentor other engineers on software development and design best practices.

Qualifications:
- Strong object oriented design skills, knowledge of design patterns, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive module and class-level interfaces.
- Extensive experience solving some of the most difficult scalability problems in web applications.
- Extensive experience in database design, modeling and SQL.
- Experience with all elements of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience working in an Agile (XP, Scrum) software development environment.
- Experience developing on an maintaining a Unix/Linux workstation.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years experience developing web-based and/or client/server applications.

Bonus Points:
- Experience leading development of software for one of Alexa's top 50 Global websites.
- Experience leading development of highly-available n-tier web applications.
- Experience writing or managing payment gateways, financial transactions, shopping carts or securing and storing financial data.
- Experience developing large web-based content storage system.
- Experience with performance tuning and load testing of web applications.
